For those of us who love the idea of fashion but have some difficulty navigating the ins and outs of fabrics, trends and couture, NZ Fashion Weekend brought us a show with a difference.
The Lululemon Athletica show on Saturday 30 August at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland showcased some of the brand’s latest yoga-inspired athletic clothes that are made to be functional yet fashionable.
From clothes made for use in the yoga studio to comfortable running gear and streetwear, Lululemon demonstrated that their clothing can easily be transitioned between flexibility training, higher intensity workouts and everyday casual occasions.
What would a fashion show for a clothing line that specialises in workout gear be without some appropriately sporty displays? A mini yoga demonstration, 1-on-1 boxing and circus-style acrobatic poses were among the moves that provided the audience with some exercise inspiration.
We also spotted some of our favourite local yoga instructors amongst the runway models who were all real men and women in different heights, shapes and sizes.
The only downside for us was that the show was a little on the short side; what we did see left us wanting more!
